Materials

  • 100% cotton yarn (size 2) in red and green.
  • 2.5 mm crochet hook
  • Tapestry neeedle
  • Scissors
  • Floral wite
  • Small wire ~0.2 mm (optional)
  • Pliers
  • Floral tape

Abbreviations

Mr – magic ring
Ch – chain
St – stitches
R – row
Sl st – slip stitch
Sc – single crochet
Hdc – half double crochet
Dc – double crochet
Inc – increase
Dec – decrease

Flower Petals

Using red yarn.

The ch 2 at the beggining counts as 1 double crochet stitch. The sl st at the end of each round doesnt count as a st.

Rnd 1: in Mr ch 2, 11 dc (12)
Rnd 2: ch 2, 2 dc in he same st, (3 dc in the same st) x 10, 1 sl st (33)
Rnd 3: ch 2, 1 dc, (2 dc in the same st) x 32, 1 sl st (66)
Rnd 4: ch 2, 2 dc in the same st, (1 dc, 2 dc in the same st) x 32, 1 sl st (99)
Rnd 5: ch 2, 2 dc in the same st, (1 dc, 2 dc in the same st) x 49, 1 dc, 1 sl st (147)
Rnd 6: (ch 4, 1 sl st) x 147 (735)

Finish off and weave in the yarn ends.

Flower Base

Using green yarn.

Rnd 1: 6 sc in Mr (6)
Rnd 2: 6 inc (12)
Rnd 3-8: sc around (12)
Rnd 9: (ch 3, 1 sc in the 2nd ch from the hook, 1 dc, 2 sl st) x 6 (24)

Finish off and leave a long tail for sewing.

Small Leaves x2

Using green yarn.

Rnd 1: ch 10, starting on the 2nd ch from the hook, 9sc
Rotate and work 9sc on the other side of the ch. Add some thin wire and crochet
over it (18 sts)
Rnd 2: ch 3, starting on the 2nd ch from the hook, 1 sc, 1 hdc, 9 sc, 1 slst (12 sts)

Finish off. Leave a long yarn tail for sewing.

Leave the 2 ends of the wire to assemble at the end.

Big Leaves x2

Using green yarn.

Rnd 1: ch 15, starting on the 2nd ch from the hook, 14sc.
Rotate and work 14sc on the other side of the ch. Add some thin wire and crochet over it (28 sts)
Rnd 2: ch 3, starting on the 2nd ch from the hook, 1 sc, 1 hdc, 14 sc, 1 slst (17 sts)

Finish off. Leave a long yarn tail for sewing.

Leave the 2 ends of the wire to assemble at the end.

Assembly

Pass the floral wite through the flower base and flower petals and bend the floral wire inside using pliers. Sew the flower base to the petals.

Using the floral tape, wrap around the floral wire, to have a more polished look. As you wrap add the small leaves and wrap around the small wires. Do some more wraps and add the big leaves the same way.

Finish off and weave in the yarn threads.
