* – repeat till the end of round

Body

Make ch 11. Crochet around the chain, starting in 2nd ch from hook.

Rnd 1: 9 sc, 3 sc in last ch, 8 sc, inc (22)
Rnd 2: inc, 8 s, 3 inc, 8 sc, 2 inc (28)
Rnd 3-5: 28 sc (28)

If you want a longer head (blue design on photo), add a round of 28 sc

Rnd 6: ch 9, 8 sc on along the chain, continue 14 sc on the body ch 9, 8 sc along the chain, continue 14 sc on the body (44)
Rnd 7: 60 sc (as you crochet 8 sc along the other side of the 2 chains) (60)
Rnd 8: 60 sc (60)

Insert the safety eyes between rnds 4 and 5, approx 7 visible stitches apart.

If you prefer slightly smaller wings (blue design), in rnd 6, make 2 x ch 8 instead of 9, as follow:

  1. ch 8, 7 sc on along the chain, continue 14 sc on the body, ch 8, 7 sc along the chain, continue 14 sc on the body (42)
  2. 56 sc (as you crochet 7 sc along the other side of the 2 chains) (56)

Then continue by following the instructions from rnd 11.
